Yale Scholarship ranges from hundreds of dollars to more than $70,000 per year. The average Yale need-based scholarship is higher than $50,000. Fully funded scholarships are common for PhD students. All students at least receive the full tuition scholarship, hospitalization fellowships, and an annual stipend.

Eligibility Criteria

You need to meet the following criteria to be eligible for the Yale University Scholarships:

  • Countries: Worldwide.
  • Required Language: English.
  • TOEFL scores of at least the following: 600 on the paper-based TOEFL, 250 on the computer-based TOEFL, and 100 on the internet-based TOEFL
  • IELTS scores of 7 or higher and Pearson Test scores of 70 or higher.
  • You are enrolled in or qualified to be a participant in Federal Free or Reduced Price Lunch program (FRPL).
  • If you have been awarded or are eligible for the ACT or SAT testing fee waiver.
  • You are participating in a federal, state, or local program that helps students from families with low incomes (e.g., TRIO programs like Upward Bound).
  • You are a state ward or an orphan.
  • Your family’s yearly income is within the income eligibility guidelines which is set by the USDA Food and Nutrition Service.
  • You reside in federally-subsidized public housing or foster homes or you are homeless.
  • Your family is eligible for public assistance.
  • You can submit a statement from an official from the school college access counselor, financial aid coordinator, or community leader.
